New York Fries is a restaurant chain that was founded in Brantford, Ontario by Jay Gould and his brother. In 1984, they decided to buy a small fry stand at the South Street Seaport in New York after having read a recommendation for it in the New York Times.
Ironically, that original stand has since been closed, so there are no longer any New York Fries stands located in New York City!
